The Honda Accord did not need to garner widespread popularity and acclaim by being thrilling or sexy. Rather, it did so by being reliable and consistent. Since 1976, Honda has been providing a family car that is comfortable, roomy, easy to drive, and never a headache to maintain. From its early days as a compact ride to its present state as a full-size one, the Accord has reigned as one of the industry's top nameplates. The 2016 edition is one of the model years of the car's ninth generation of production, and it is available in the following flavors: LX, LX-S, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L V-6 and Touring.

Honda Accord Interior A roomy five-seater, the 2016 Accord offers a passenger volume of up to 103.2 cubic feet, as well as a peak cargo volume of 15.8 cubic feet. The stereo system on the car has, at the very least, an AM/FM/CD player with MP3 playback and SiriusXM radio capability, Radio Data System (RDS), USB and auxiliary ports for connecting mobile devices, and Bluetooth connectivity. Other features or characteristics-like HD Radio, 7-inch screen for audio information, and more than four speakers-are on all variants but the LX and LX-S; the EX-L variants and the Touring, in particular, are the recipients of a premium seven-speaker 360-watt stereo system. Standard on all Accords are remote keyless entry, front and rear cup holders, 8-inch intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) screen, steering-wheel mounted controls, and front and rear center armrests. Higher-end trims get additional interior features that include leather upholstery and a Honda satellite-linked navigation system.

Honda Accord Exterior

Alloy wheels are standard on the 2016 Accord. However, they are 16 inches on the LX, 17 inches on the LX-S and EX variants, and 19 inches on the Sport and Touring. Other standard exterior trims on the Accord include power side mirrors, fully automatic headlights, and chrome door handles. Higher-level trims have additional features, such as dual exhaust, rear spoiler, front LED fog lights or heating capability or turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors.

Honda Accord Powertrain

Depending on the trim, the 2016 Accord gets one of three engine choices. A 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder-which produces 185 horsepower at 6,400 revolutions per minute (RPM) and 181 lb-ft of torque at 3,900 RPM-goes on the LX variants and the EX and EX-L. The Sport also gets a 2.4-liter four-cylinder, although it produces four more horses and an additional foot-pound of torque. The other trims-the EX-L V6 and Touring-are powered by a larger, 3.5-liter V6 engine that pumps out 278 horsepower at 6,200 RPM and 252 lb-ft of torque at 4,900 RPM. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission (LX, LX-S, Sport, and EX), a six-speed automatic one (EX-L) or a Continuously Variable Transmission (EX-L V6 and Touring). A front-wheel front-engine layout is standard on all Accords, even though fuel economy differs from one trim to the other due to several engine-gearbox configuration choices.

Honda Accord Mechanical

For the 2016 year, the Accord is designed as a four-door full-size vehicle, with the option of getting a two-door coupe instead with select trims. It uses a steel unibody, with electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering. The Accord's four-wheel independent suspension consists of MacPherson struts, gas shock absorbers, and stabilizer bar at the front; and a multi-link design at the back. A front shock tower bar is added to the suspension of all trims but the LX. Depending on the engine and transmission on the vehicle, the Accord has a curb weight of 3,170 to 3,605 lbs.

Honda Accord Safety

Solidified with an occupant sensing system, the Accord's air bags consists of dual front impact air bags, dual front side impact air bags, and roof-mounted side curtain air bags. Also included are a Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control system for improved steering direction control and driving stability, anti-lock braking (ABS) for preventing the brakes from locking up when applied, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution for more controlled and precise handling when applying the brakes, and a rearview camera for assisting in backing up the vehicle. More advanced safety features-like Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Collison Mitigating Braking System, and Road Departure Mitigating System-are available to get on the Accord. In addition to the air bags, passive safety features include a seat-belt reminder for drivers and front passengers, child-proof rear-door locks, and a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system. For security, the 2016 Accord comes with an electronic security system with panic alarm and engine immobilizer to deter car thieves. Schedule Your Test Drive in the 2016 Honda Accord at Kuni Honda!Want to get your hands on the latest compact SUV from one of the most exciting automakers in existence?
