Fireworks in Denver

Denver is known for its spectacular views on an ordinary day. But on the Fourth of July, with fireworks bursting in between the cityscape and the nearby Rocky Mountains, we get a dazzling spectacle that’s anything but ordinary.

After a year that’s also been anything but ordinary, celebrating Independence Day and our own sense of independence from being cooped up at home feels pretty spectacular, too.

So, get on out there! Below is a list of the best places to see July 4th fireworks around Denver.

All firework shows and events are subject to cancellation due to dry weather conditions, so be sure to confirm with the venue’s direct website or phone number. Also, please be mindful of individual locations’ COVID-19 protocols and restrictions.

Parking Lots

Grab some salty snacks and fizzy drinks, pack up your favorite people, and scope out a spot in the Glendale Whole Foods parking lot on South Colorado Boulevard — a prime location for clear viewing of the Glendale Fireworks Show.

Other parking lot locations to watch the Glendale July 4th fireworks include the nearby CitySet parking lot, also on South Colorado Boulevard, as well as the Glendale Target, located on East Virginia Avenue.

The Glendale fireworks show is scheduled to commence at 9:15 PM on July 2, 2021.

The roomy new Honda Odyssey is perfect for summer evenings like this; it seats eight passengers and includes the LATCH connector system to effortlessly anchor in car seats, so your entire group can travel with ease and ample space.

*Be aware of street closures when planning your evening. You can find the event and list of street closures here.

54Thirty Rooftop Bar

54Thirty, located at 1475 California Street, was named the number one best bar in Denver by Society19, due to their stunning views of the city juxtaposed with the mountains. 54Thirty does not take reservations – it is a first-come, first served establishment, so we recommend getting there as early as possible in order to secure a cozy fireworks-watching spot!

Popular cocktails include the Mez Tai Meets the sky (mezcal, falernum, lime juice, planation dark rum, passion fruit honey foam) and Red Rocks (vodka, Aperol, lemon, bubbles). They also have a variety of beer and wine options, as well as an assortment of apps, such as their super popular avocado hummus.

Note: 54Thirty uses a waitlist system, and one must check in with the host in the lobby of Le Meridien Hotel in order to be placed on the waitlist.

Check out 54Thirty’s website for FAQs and the full menu.

Coors Stadium

What better place to celebrate the United States of America than at a baseball game? The Colorado Rockies are playing the St. Louis Cardinals July 1-4 at Coors Stadium. The July 2 game begins at 6:10 PM, and the July 3rd game begins at 7:10 PM, and each game is hosting post-game fireworks displays in Denver.

Four Mile Historic Park

Four Mile Historic Park, located at 715 S Forest Street, showcases Denver history through interactive educational programs and the longest-standing building in Denver. Here, your family will also find a homestead with chickens, goats, pigs, and horses, a miner and trapper cabin, a root cellar, a tepee, a beehouse, and a blacksmith shop.

The historic park sits on thirteen acres, rendering it an excellent destination to celebrate Independence Day independently (socially distanced).

Four Mile Historic Park’s Independence Day Celebration will take place on Friday, July 2, from 5-9 PM. The celebration offers all the classic fixings of a fantastic festivity: kettle corn, food trucks, live music, and games. Tickets are $14 for adults, $13 for seniors and military, and $8 for children.

Visit the event’s Facebook page for details and to purchase tickets.

Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre

Ditch the fireworks! Colorado’s iconic outdoor concert venue, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, will be hosting rock band Blues Traveler on Sunday, July 4, at 8 PM.

Ticket prices range from $55-$75 and can be purchased online, or from the Red Rocks Box Office & Will Call located at Entrance 2 of the park. Red Rocks Box Office & Will Call opens four hours before the show start time.

Elitch Gardens

A Denver fireworks show is the perfect way to wind down after a long day of rushing adrenaline!

Denver’s favorite amusement park, Elitch Gardens, opens at 10:30 AM on July 4 and is staying open until 9 PM to celebrate Independence Day. Fireworks will commence at closing time – around 9 PM. The July 4th fireworks show is free to those with a season pass or ticket for the day.

While you’re here, be sure to ride the Star Flyer, which swings riders 17 stories above the Denver skyline. Entry to the water park is included with general admission.

Lookout Mountain Trail in Windy Saddle Park

The hike along Lookout Mountain Trail not only showcases Clear Creek Canyon and Golden and Table Mountain but also downtown, making it another prime place to see fireworks in Denver. Not to mention, the trail flaunts the natural beauty of Colorado; wildflowers bloom alongside pine trees, and it is likely that hikers here will spot a deer or two.

Lookout Mountain Trail is about a 30-minute drive from downtown Denver. The hike is approximately 2.4 miles and of moderate difficulty. Be sure to pack plenty of water, sunscreen and a picnic blanket to sit on and watch the Denver fireworks on July 4th. Pets are also welcome here!
