Why 2020 Honda Ridgeline vs 2020 Toyota Tacoma near Denver CO

The Honda Ridgeline and the Toyota Tacoma are some of the best compact pickup trucks in their shared class. And the 2020 model year brings several changes to maintaining their respective positions. However, the Ridgeline is a better pick than the Tacoma, especially when considering engine output, ride quality, interior accommodations, and driver-assistance technologies.

Although the 2020 Toyota Tacoma offers a pair of engines to choose from, they are both outgunned by the 2020 Honda Ridgeline’s 3.5-liter V6, which produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Consequently, you can expect the Ridgeline to provide better acceleration ability than its Toyota counterpart.

Both the Honda Ridgeline and the Toyota Tacoma perform well on smooth surfaces. However, on rougher surfaces, the Tacoma does not perform nearly as well as the Ridgeline, which is commended for being one of the better-driving pickups in the compact market. Thanks to its MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, and a unibody construction, the Ridgeline provides a smooth and composed car-like driving experience.

Although the Tacoma provides a pair of cab sizes to choose from, the lone Crew Cab that Ridgeline has provides approximately twice the amount of passenger space. Moreover, while the Tacoma is restricted to a four-seater cab size at the base level, the Ridgeline provides a two-row cabin to seat up to five people regardless of trim level.

The driver-assistance suite on the Honda Ridgeline is especially robust. At the base level, expect to have adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist. On the Toyota Tacoma, you get lane departure alert, automatic high beams, dynamic radar cruise control, and pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Missing, however, are road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking.
