What’s New?

The popular crossover was America’s most successful subcompact SUV in 2017. In a hot category packed with competition, the entry-level SUV set new sales records month after month. But resting on its laurels in 2018 wasn’t an option.

Instead, the 2018 HR-V has added several options and features. This year's HR-V revisions focused on the enhancement of its sporty personality. A new vibrant metallic color and an enhanced, sporty wheel design are sure to be a hit for those of us who adore the segment-leading Honda HR-V. A vibrant new Aegean Blue Metallic color is available on EX and higher trims, and black-painted inserts refresh the HR-V’s bold wheel design.

Honda HR-V: Much More Than a Compact Crossover

The HR-V has always offered one of the most versatile interiors, with four different modes for passenger and cargo configuration. The 2018 Honda HR-V sets itself apart from a regular hatchback SUV thanks to 100 cubic-feet of cargo space, rivaling some larger midsize SUVs. Thanks to Honda’s innovative Magic Seats in the second row, just over 58 cubic feet of cargo space is available. With its seats up, to comfortably carry 5 adults, there still remains a generous 24.3 cubic-feet of cabin room.

Power and Fuel Efficiency

Where city driving is concerned, fuel-efficiency is the priority, and the HR-V’s 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with i-VTEC valvetrain delivers 141 horsepower without sacrificing those all-important MPGs. All Honda 2018 HR-V trims have impressive city/highway/combined EPA ratings:

  • 28/34/31 mpg for CVT-equipped two-wheel drive HR-Vs
  • 27/31/29 mpg for HR-V models with all-wheel drive
  • 25/33/28 mpg for HR-Vs with 6-speed manual transmissions

Four-Season Driving Capability for Denver Winters

“All weather” is what we expect in Denver, and the HR-V is ready to handle it with better ground clearance and your choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Kelley Blue Book cites the Honda HR-V’s all-weather capability as just one of many factors contributing to the outstanding 9.3 (out of a possible 10) rating they awarded Honda’s compact crossover. Honda's advanced Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System is available for outstanding all-weather handling and control.

Standard Safety & Driver-Assist Features

US News and World Report notes that the 2018 Honda HR-V earned a five-star safety rating overall—five stars in side crash testing, and four stars in the frontal crash and rollover testing—accounting for its impressive top-five NHTSA ranking in the subcompact SUV class. With the 2018 HR-V, you can expect to find the following safety features as standard:

  • Anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Brake Assist
  • Hill Start Assist - Brakes applied automatically to prevent rollback when the driver switches his foot from the brake to the accelerator
  • Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) electronic stability control system
  • Multi-Angle Rearview Camera
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
