Honda Reveals Production Model Fit EV

After Honda showed up at the LA Auto Show with the production model Honda Fit EV, they let some lucky people take it for a spin around the Twin Ring Motegi Race facility in Japan during their pre-Tokyo Motor Show press event. And it seems that Honda has a pretty cool electric vehicle in store for us.

What can you expect from the EV-variant of the popular Honda Fit? Well to start, the electric motor pumps out about 123 hp and 189 lb-ft of torque, and its powered by a 20-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Honda was shooting for a range of about 100 miles on a single charge, and got pretty close with an EPA-estimated 75-mile range.

It will feature all of the things that have made the Honda Fit such a popular model, with the addition of a battery pack, mounted underneath the vehicle. According to Car and Driver, "It's a decision that resulted in a floor that's three inches higher than the convential model's but the Fit's cathedral ceiling meant that we didn't notice the reduced headroom."1

Rumor has it that the Honda Fit EV will start to arrive next summer in select markets. Production is limited to only 1100 vehicles to begin with, so if you're interested in getting your hands on one, be sure to stay tuned with Kuni Honda, located at 10750 E Arapahoe Rd Centennial, CO 80112 for the latest updates from Honda.
